As promised, we’re dedicating a whole post on how to stage the outside of your home to sell ON A BUDGET! Find our budget-friendly home staging tips to sell here.
Many people don’t have the money to completely overhaul their home with a new roof, painting the whole house, and professional landscaping. This doesn’t mean sprucing up the exterior of your home should be overlooked. The last thing you want is potential buyers leaving your home before they even step inside because the curb appeal is lacking. The exterior of your house is the FIRST IMPRESSION buyers get of your property! You can knock their socks off before they even walk in AND stay on a budget. Take in these tips!
If you don’t have it in the budget to paint the whole house, paint areas that need it the most. The front door is a great place to add a fresh coat of paint. You can make it neutral or go with a bold color, depending on what works with the rest of your home design. If the trim around windows is worn, consider repainting it as well. These small touch ups will speak loudly for your curb appeal.
Clean up the yard
Make sure the lawn is mowed consistently and edged. Kill any weeds and treat any areas of the yard that are infected. Trim bushes and trees and consistently sweep the walkway and front porch. This includes the backyard! Potential buyers will most likely want to see the backyard as well. Watch more lawn care tips below!
Clean the exterior of the house
Just like you gave the interior a deep clean, the outside of your house needs it too! We already mentioned freshening the paint on the trim and front door. Cleaning the outside windows you can access is crucial. Also cleaning out the gutters is important as well! Buyers will notice these things if they aren’t clean and look grungy. If you have money in the budget, consider pressure washing the driveway, walkway, and other areas of your outdoor living space. This will really make the exterior of your home shine!
Add Color & Detail
Remember we’re on a budget so there is no need to go out and buy all new patio furniture or plant the most expensive flowers. Consider planting fresh, colorful flowers and laying some mulch or pine straw. Adding a nice wreath to the front door will help boost curb appeal as well. You can make a front door wreath yourself for a lot cheaper than buying in the store! Click here for inspiration!
